Saddle-stapled softcover in paper wraps. 29pp. Kathy Acker's first published novel (preceded only by the poetry collection Politics) from 1973, first printed in 6 separate booklets - this being the 5th - and mailed by Acker herself to whomever she thought might take notice under the pseudonym The Black Tarantula. Story of a gay teen sex worker committing murder, copying out pornography and having extreme sex - the text characterized by the bracing prose and ruthless literary pastiche that would come to define her work. All events, she explains in a postscript, are "taken from MYTHOLOGIES and THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS by William Butler Yeats", and myself". Book, now in protective mylar dustwrapper, in very good condition for its age and format, with moderate, mostly even toning to wrappers and occasional soiling. Very light toning to page interiors. Modest edgewear. Otherwise an excellent example of this important and rare first edition of Acker's prose debut. Seller is also offering a copy of the 3rd installment of this first edition, entitled "A Secret Document".
